Rules of Russian Poker

Russian Poker is a variation of Caribbean Stud poker that you can find at some online casinos. On the surface, it looks like your standard Caribbean Stud game, but it has a few additional considerations. For starters, the dealer must make A-K or higher to qualify as opposed to A-Q or higher.

Next, you have a few extra potential bets. After you have received all of your cards, you have the option to buy a sixth card. This will cost you the equivalent of your ante.

Also, after the dealer shows his card, you can opt to buy the dealer a sixth card. This will cost you the equivalent to your ante.

For any hand that you have three of a kind or better, you can purchase insurance before the dealer shows his cards. You can bet anywhere from your ante to half of the payout for your hand. Insurance pays 1 to 1.

There is a Bonus bet for this game, but the bet only applies to your initial five-card hand. It does not apply to the sixth card.

How to Play Russian Poker

At the start of a hand of Russian Poker, you must place the Ante bet to receive cards. You can also bet on the Bonus. Once you click the Deal button, you’ll get your five cards, and the dealer will get five cards with only his last card showing.

At this point, you can opt to fold, bet, or buy a sixth card. If you opt to buy a sixth card, you will again be prompted to fold or bet. If you fold, the hand is over. When you bet, a wager of 2x your ante will be placed.

After you opt to bet, the dealer will show his cards. If the dealer’s hand is less than A-K, you can opt to buy the dealer a sixth card. Once all dealer actions are completed, hands are paid out.

One thing that’s cool about this game is that it can pay on multiple combinations. For example, you are dealt a pair of threes, buy a sixth card, and get another three. In this case, the first hand will pay for the pair of three and the second combination will pay for three of a kind.

However, the sixth card must make a new unique combination. If your sixth card doesn’t help create a new hand, you won’t get paid twice. However, if you make a second combination and it doesn’t beat the dealer’s hand, you will still get paid for it.

For example, let’s assume you get A-3-3-8-10 and draw a king for your sixth card. You now have a pair for the first hand and A-K for the second. If the dealer has a pair of deuces, your second combination will still payout because the primary hand is superior to the dealer’s hand.
