Poker Pro Jackie Glazier Leaves Survivor Due to Injury

For those that watch Australian Survivor, you may be familiar with professional poker player Jackie Glazier. She appeared on Australian Survivor: Champions vs. Contenders in 2018 and made it to Day 26 before being voted out.

Recently, Glazier returned to Australian Survivor as a villain in the newest season. Unfortunately, tragedy struck, and Glazier was taken out of the game due to an injury during the first episode.

Jackie Glazier Announced as Part of Heroes Vs. Villains

In December, poker pro Jackie Glazier was announced as part of the newest season of Australian Survivor. The new season entitled Heroes vs. Villains puts past players into two tribes. Glazier was reported to be part of the Villains tribe.

Glazier was part of Australian Survivor in 2018 when she competed in the Champions v Contenders season. If you remember from that season, Glazier was in danger of being eliminated early on in the show. On Day 2, it was Glazier and Russel Hantz receiving the most votes in the tribal council. The votes were tied, and this forced a revote. On the revote, Hantz received the most votes, leaving Glazier safe to continue playing.

However, she was able to solidify her spot on her team after allying with Brian Lake. This allowed her to hang around until Day 26, which was the 11th episode of the season. The episode also featured a tribal switch. Jackie was ultimately voted out of the tribe after new tribal mates were deemed more trustworthy. She was the 10th player eliminated for the season.

When it was announced that she would be part of Heroes v. Villains, the promo stated that Glazier was “not here to play it safe.” At 49, she was also the oldest woman competing in the show. Some would assume her age would be a strength in the game. Unfortunately, she did not get long to put that theory to the test.

Glazier Eliminated From Competition Due to Injury

The first episode of Heroes v. Villains was broadcast on January 30th, resulting in two people being injured on the show. Both ‘King’ George Mladenov and Jackie Glazier were injured simultaneously during the show’s initial immunity challenge.

The players mounted rotating boxes and were supposed to flip off the boxes and land in a mud pit. However, both players were unable to rotate properly and wound up landing on their heads. Both players were taken to the hospital. Glazier reportedly broke her collarbone. The injury took her out of the game permanently.

Later, the Villains tribe was given the option to forego voting since Glazeir was out. Instead, the tribe opted to vote as normal. In the end, Anjail Rao was the first player out, receiving the most votes.

Note that while Glazier was eliminated from the game, King George was able to return in a later episode.

Poker a Much Safer Profession for Glazier

Jackie Glazier’s days on Survivor are likely over now, particularly considering her injury. Fortunately, she has enjoyed a stellar poker career. For those unaware, Glazier has over $1.45 million in live poker tournament career. A staple at online casinos and poker rooms for decades, she is best known for winning the Ladies Event at the 2013 World Series of Poker Europe.

Earlier that same year, Glazier finished 31st at the 2013 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. She won $229k for that finish, the largest individual score of her poker career. Over the last two years, Glazier has been a staple in the Australian Poker League Poker Tour (APLPT). Last June, she won the Super High Roller Event at the Hobart stop. Last month, she final tabled an event at the Sydney stop.

Glazier may not be a hall of famer in the world of Survivor, but she will likely become one in poker. In 2022, she was nominated to be inducted into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame. While she was not inducted last year, it is just a matter of time before this dominant Aussie player receives her just rewards.
